Long Island Point – Steel Pile Inspection – April 2017
Ægir Divers were commissioned by Linx to conduct an inspection of a selection of steel piles at Long Island Point wharf facility in Westernport Bay.
The divers measured the thickness of steel piles using an Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge (Non-destructive Testing or NDT), noted any defects, measured marine growth and conducted seabed observations at predetermined sections throughout the wharf. All findings were relayed by the Divers to the Surface Supervisor via real-time communications, documented and transferred to a data template, after which a computer generated report was completed and handed to our client along with underwater still photos of the inspections.
These underwater inspections were carried out from our Commercial Vessel in Marine survey ‘Torden’ (MSV 12840) skippered by our qualified Master V and Coxswains.
